SOIL Guitarist's DIRGE Schedules Live Shows
June 14, 2007DIRGE, the new extreme metal project featuring SOIL guitarist Shaun Glass, THE DOOMSDAY SOCIAL drummer James Knight (ex-THE BLANK THEORY, CHACOPA) and A TEXAS FUNERAL vocalist Jermz, has scheduled its first two shows:
Jul. 28 - The Rave - Milwaukee, Wisconsin (w/ LUPARA)
Aug. 07 - The Pearl Room - Mokena, Illinois (w/ NILE, DAATH)
DIRGE recently made another song available for download via its MySpace page. Like the tracks "Ties That Bind" and "The Complacency Strain", "Forever the Martyr" was enginered by Scott Creekmore at Mercenary Studios but unlike the other songs, this one was mixed and mastered by James Murphy (DEATH, OBITUARY, TESTAMENT) at SafeHouse Productions.
According to Shaun, who previously played bass in the 1990s death metal act BROKEN HOPE, DIRGE's musical direction is "total fucking extreme metal in a very modern thrash style." Glass also adds: "This will by no means affect my SOIL time as all is well there."
SOIL's latest CD, "True Self", was released in May 2006 via DRT Entertainment. The follow-up to 2004's "Redefine" was recorded and mixed at Bomb Shelter studios in Los Angeles, California with producer Ulrich Wild (STATIC-X, TAPROOT).
